Improve my weakness: Phrasal verb

Fill in the gaps with the correct form of the phrasal verbs below:

Dave's a funny chap! He never wants to go out in the evenings, but when he does, he never wants to go home again!

Last Thursday was a typical example. I phoned him and asked if he wanted to go out to our local pub for a quick drink. At first, he said that he didn't want to - he would rather--stay in --- and watch the telly. But after about 10 minutes, I managed to persuade him to come to the pub.

Well, we had a nice evening, and the 'quick drink' turned into a longer drink; the more Dave and I drank, the more we wanted to drink. The pub closed at 11 o'clock, so we had to drink up then, but Dave wanted to ---stay out----- and persuaded me that we should go to the nightclub in town to continue our 'conversation'. There weren't many people in the nightclub, but that didn't stop us from having a good time! I finally ---got back-- home at 5 o'clock in the morning, feeling very happy, tired, and drunk.

The way my head felt on Friday morning (or, to be more accurate, Friday afternoon!), I had to agree with our friends who say that Dave and I are a bad influence on each other!

go out / stay out / stay in / drink up / get back

My score is only 2/5. So sad, so i think i will do more exercise on it.

Improve my weakness: Verb Pattern

I surprise how correct i did on this exercise:25/25. I think it is because of a very low level of exercise. So i try it on higher level:

Yes, i am right. My score is 4/6 now. Here are 2 my wrong sentences:

1 I don't mind making as long as the roads aren't too busy.
2 My parents always made me drive my bed in the morning.

--> The answer is:

1. driving

2. make

Here is my wrong answer: i chose A, but the right answer is C: happened. I still don't know why.
5.
She ____________ to see him in the car park.
A
remembered
B
could succeed
C
happened
D
doesn't forget

8.
The girl ____________ to do it.
A
can't help
B
stopped
C
doesn't feel like
D
saw him

I chose D, but the answer is C. So my score is 6/8

12. I want (learn) (fly) an airplane.

--> to learn flying, but the right answer is to learn to fly

So my score is 19/20

This is very dificult level. My score is 16/19. Here are my mistake:
1) Sorry, I forgot (buy) some milk. --> buying ---> to buy
5) Would you mind (I / close) the window? --> i close--> me closing
7) This soup doesn’t taste right yet. - Try (put) in a bit more salt. --> to put--> putting

The right answer is in bold.

My course, Steve 's homwork

I have looked at my course again to find something new. I surprise my tuition fee to be increased dramatically. Fortunately i will study in Moorgate where is near my house now and i also went there several times.

I am still reading 'The Economics of Business Enterprise'- Martin Rickettts which i borrowed from library. (You can also read online by clicking that link) It is connected to my subject and known from Londonmet's email in which they suggest reading before entering Master course.

Regarding to diagnostic grammar test, I decided 3 my weakness i will focus on this week:
- Verb pattern
- Fill in the gap in small paragraph
- Meaning of phrasal verb

I am answering Steve's questions of this grammar test:

-Which of the grammar points you have problems with are more important for a) writing b) speaking c) both?
--> My speaking is weaker than my writing.

-Do you think that doing lots and lots of grammar exercises is the best way to improve your grammar?

--> It is the best way to improve grammar but it is not enough. I think i should highlight, remember where my mistake is from grammar exercise and make another right sentence using that grammar which i focus on.

-Can you think of any other activities that you could do without having to pick up a grammar book?

--> Exercise on internet is the most convenience book to improve grammar. However i prefer the game of grammar or visual grammar to written grammar.

-How do you think you've learnt the grammar you already know well?

--> My problem is how long i remember what i 've learnt. I think i should review what i already know when i find difficult to use it as much as possible. Therefore my brain works too much to remember for a long time.

-Can you find some online exercises to help you with your grammar weaknesses. Please put a link to anything you find, then do the exercise, and paste into your blog any sentences/phrases you got wrong or would like to remember.
